educated teachers
Teacher education has a direct correlation to the students’ success, and the YWCA fosters its staff development. Many teachers have or are pursuing college degrees in Early Childhood Education.
expanded curriculum
The YWCA uses the Creative Curriculum as a guideline for its students’ learning. Students learn and understand concepts and information in preparation for Kindergarten (spelling their name, reciting their address and phone number, understanding shapes and colors, counting and memorizing the alphabet
and more!).
The YWCA understands each student develops and learns at a unique pace and YWCA teachers work with students to individualize programs based for each student’s success.
| swimming instruction & physical education programming
In today’s world, outside play time often takes a back-seat to video games and TV. To promote a healthy child, the YWCA offers a comprehensive physical education program which includes:
-
weekly swim lessons in the YWCA indoor pool
-
weekly aerobics for fun and movement with music
-
daily outdoor play (weather permitting)
-
activities and games in an indoor gym

nutritious meals & snacks
Proper nutrition is vital to developing strong minds and bodies and the YWCA prides itself in offering wholesome, hot meals every day in a family-style setting. Nutritionists are often called into classrooms to structure meals or provide children learning on why eating healthy is important.
potty-training program
Potty training can be challenging for even the most patient parent. When success doesn't happen quickly, parents may begin to doubt themselves or wonder if something is wrong with your child. Never fear because consistency is key and the YWCA can help! Incorported into the youngest classroom curriculum is a potty-training program certain to help your child master the skill. With this program, you'll be diaper-free in no time!
